Uma mulher chamada guitarra
Vinicius de Moraes
Companhia das Letras, 2013

Vinicius de Moraes (1913-1980) was one of the most striking presences in Brazilian culture of the 20th century. More than thirty years after his death, the author's importance continues to grow. You can: Vinicius, from Rio de Janeiro, was one of our great modernist poets, a composer - one of the fathers of the movement known as Bossa Nova, from the late 1950s onwards - who created songs still known today by Brazilians of all generations, such as "Garota de Ipanema", renowned columnist in the press, playwright, lover of beauty, women and nature.

In this selection of his chronicles, Vinicius appears in full. His childhood, his memories of a bucolic and almost rural Rio de Janeiro, his observation of the passage of time (and the inevitable presence of death), his passion for books and the Portuguese language, his love and the - good-humored - contemplation of everyday life occupy these pages. Everything with delicacy, humor and intelligence, in light and fun texts.
