Pela luz dos olhos teus
Vinicius de Moraes
Companhia das Letras, 2016

Illustrated by Rio de Janeiro artist Filipe Jardim, this anthology brings together 22 poems by one of the founders of bossa nova. From his debut book, The Path to Distance, released in 1933, through Form and Exegesis (1935) and Book of Sonnets (1957), to New Poems II (1959), love enchantment is the theme that runs through the entire work of one of our main lyric poets. If in the poem "The Woman Who Passes" Vinicius asks: "Why are you missing me, if I'm looking for you?", in the opening verses of "Sonnet of Corifeu" he defines the state of urgency in which he lived, in a haunting realization: "There are too many the dangers of this life/ For those who have passion, especially".
